We’re introducing the Siesta AI Chrome Extension, which brings Siesta AI agents into Chrome’s native side panel.
You can keep the current webpage open while working with an agent, attach page context or files. This is useful for common browser-based tasks like reviewing pages, comparing information, drafting responses, and asking follow-up questions without constantly switching tabs or copying content around.
More importantly, the agent can control the browser and complete permitted actions as part of the task. Instead of only providing an answer, it can carry out work directly in the browser while you follow its progress from the side panel. This reduces the need to switch between tabs and manually transfer information from one place to another.
What it’s for
The extension is built for day-to-day browser workflows: research, document review, drafting, and tasks where the agent needs to work with the current page. Supported agents can use the browser to complete permitted actions while you keep the source page visible. The goal is simple: reduce context switching and manual handoffs when work starts in the browser.
The main Siesta AI web app remains the place to configure agents, manage data and connections, build workflows, review analytics, and handle organization settings. The Chrome extension is the lightweight browser surface for using agents in context.
Controlled context sharing
The extension does not read page content by default. Context sharing is explicit: page text is extracted only after a user action, such as attaching the current page or selected text, including from the right-click menu. When you attach a page, the extension captures readable page text, includes the page title and URL, and sends it as a visible attachment, such as `page-context.txt`. It is not silently mixed into your prompt. You can also attach screenshots, images, and files. This makes the handoff easier to inspect and control. Users can see what will be sent, remove attachments before sending, and keep each request limited to the context the agent actually needs.
That matters for teams with clear data-handling requirements. Instead of always-on browser reading, users follow a simple rule: only attach what the agent should work with, and avoid secrets or sensitive personal data unless the use case and access controls are approved.
Visibility while the agent works
The extension supports streaming responses with Markdown formatting and controls such as stop, retry, copy, and new chat. When an agent uses tools or performs a browser action, you can follow its progress directly from the side panel. The extension shows tool-call status, including success, failure, pending, and approval-pending.
For multi-step tasks, the extension restores the most recently active conversation when the side panel is reopened with the same agent. Message history is fetched again from Siesta AI, and message contents are not copied into extension storage. This keeps the browser experience lightweight while still letting users continue where they left off.
Availability and setup
The Siesta AI Chrome Extension works with Chrome 116 and later. Once installed, you can open it directly from the Chrome toolbar and keep your AI agents alongside whatever you’re working on.
For faster access, use Ctrl+Shift+Y on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+Y on macOS. You can customize the shortcut anytime at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
